The first volume in the Farm Albums from Port Oneida series, this 72-page, 8 1/2” x 11” book is based on oral histories with Jack & Lucille Barratt, and George Burfiend. It is also based on their family photo collections. It traces the histories of two related farms and families, starting with the arrival of Port Oneida’s first white settler, Carsten Burfiend. It coninues with the the arrival of the Bakers and the development of the two farms. Included are other bits of history from around Port Oneida, as shared by Jack, Lucille, and George. I am George Burfiend’s nephew. The son of Peter C. Burfiend. Uncle George gave me a copy of your book. Thank you very much for tell our story. i can set for hours reading and looking at the pictures, remembering life on the farm. you see my family lived there until 1972 when my father pasted.
